Turkey registers 1.5M of residential sales last year


(MENAFN) According to the Turkish statistical authority statement on Friday, a number of 1.49 million housing properties were sold in the country the previous year.

Based on the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data, the number dropped marginally by 0.5 percent from the preceding year.

Istanbul was the largest stake with 18.5 percent or 276,223 residential sales during last year, pursued by Ankara with 144,104 and Izmir with 86,722. About 461,523 new residences were sold all over the nation, while the remaining were used houses sales.

According to TurkStat data, the mortgaged residential sales amounted at 294,530 in 2021, dropping by 49 percent from the preceding year. Residential sales to non-nationals jumped by 43.5 percent on a yearly basis to reach 58,576 units in 2021.
