Egyptian Suez Canal incomes reach USD6.3B last year


(MENAFN) As said by the Egyptian experts, Egypt’s Suez Canal incomes reached a record high at USD6.3 billion last year.

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA), which is the administration group that manages the canal, stated the canal’s incomes increased by 12.8 percent, a USD720 million increase from 2020 after the global canal brought in USD5.6 billion in incomes.

The waterway saw 20,694 vessels crossing from the two ways in contrast to 18,830 vessels in 2020, a 10 percent rise, in accordance to SCA chairman Osama Rabie.

He as well declared that The Suez Canal registered a sum net tonnage of 1.27 billion tons last year, a rise of 8.5 percent from 1.17 billion tons in 2020.
