Tremor with scale 4.9 hits E. Turkey


(MENAFN) According to Turkish disaster expert, a tremor with 4.9 magnitude hit Turkish eastern Van area on Monday.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the tremor happened in Tusba region at 00.46 AM local time (2146GMT), and at a depth of 7.62 kilometers (4.73 miles) under the surface.

Van Chief Mehmet Emin Bilmez updated Anadolu Agency that there no deaths were recorded, in line with initial statements.

Bilmez also declared that AFAD, gendarmerie and 112 saving groups carry on investigating in the area.
