Increasing presence of American army in northern city of Greece


(MENAFN) Based on media reports, on Saturday an increasing American army presence in Greece was objected in the north part of port city of Alexandroupolis.

According to news outlet 902.gr, the protest planned by the Committee of Struggle Against the Greek-American Military Treaty and the Base in Alexandroupolis also had the contribution of several trade coalitions, pensioners’ unions, student unions along with the domestic branch of the International Detente and Peace Committee (EEDYE).

The news also mentioned that it is worth mentioning that demonstrators also burned the US, EU and NATO flags. Previously, another demonstration against the US- Greece military agreement and the increasing American military presence in the nation was held in the port metropolis’s public theatre.

Moreover, General secretary of EEDYE, Elpida Pantelaki, criticized the use of the harbor by the US army.
