São Paulo – The Brazilian National Confederation of industry (CNI) finished this Friday (19) the trade mission activities organized to the United Arab Emirates, in which Brazilian entrepreneurs were able to make business contacts and learn about the opportunities and economic reality of the Arab country. The delegation was the largest ever sent to the UAE, with over 320 representatives from 230 Brazilian companies, according to information from the CNI press office.

The mission began on November 13, first with debates in which leaders from the private and public sectors in Brazil and the UAE exchanged their views on the relationship between the two countries. From November 16 onwards, they had a program focused on business. On Wednesday (17), the CNI signed an MoU with the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), establishing a Brazil–UAE Business Council.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) was one of the institutions supporting the CNI mission. At the opening of the business program (pictured above), on November 16, ABCC's New Business director, Daniella Leite, gave tips to the business people about entering the Arab market. According to her, the visit to the country is a first step, essential for getting to know it in person. Still, it should be followed by strategic planning for internationalization, the adaptation of products, if necessary, analysis of competitiveness, and continuity in contacts.

Also at the opening of the business schedule, the Education and Technology director at CNI, Rafael Lucchesi, stated he sees opportunities for commercial partnerships and investments for Brazilian companies in the UAE. According to him, European and North American countries have already made it clear, as a legacy of the emergencies caused by COVID-19, they do not want to rely on China and India.“Why doesn't Brazil see this as an opportunity?” he said. Also speaking at the event were the head of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dubai Chamber) office in Brazil, João Paulo Paixão, and the Business director at the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), Lucas Fiuza.

On the same day, after the opening at which several specialists spoke, the Brazilians had business rounds with Arabs.“It generated a lot of contacts,” said Daniella Leite about the day. The ABCC helped schedule meetings for the mission and prospecting Arab executives for networking with the Brazilian delegation. This, according to Leite, showed how important the existence of the ABCC office in Dubai is. It was opened in 2019.

In addition to participating in forums and seminars with authorities, the business people in the mission made technical visits to different regions of the UAE. They were received at Dubai City Hall, Abu Dhabi Financial Center, Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park, among other venues. The mission took place on the occasion of the Brazilian participation in the universal exhibition Expo 2020 Dubai, taking place in the UAE from October 2021 to March 2022.
