QU eSports Club holds Charity Week eSports Tournaments


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: In a way of giving back to society, eSports Tournaments were organised by Qatar University (QU) eSports Club and the Sanabel Club, a humanitarian work club also in QU.

The event was part of Charity Week which is now under the Sanabel Club.

President of the QU eSports Club Syed Hamad Abbass said:“It is our honour to serve in such a noble cause and we look forward to more collaborations with the Sanabel Club in the future. We were delighted to see the students finally come together and compete in this event. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our team who worked together to fulfil our mission and vision in creating an esports atmosphere that will represent QU in the future during international events.”

He added:“We are looking forward to any opportunity that we can take, to work with other organisations. Our platform grants us potential access to a huge number of participants and event organisers.”

Meanwhile, eSports Club Vice-President Ahmadyar Qureshi said he is extremely delighted with the amount of interest the students showed during the tournaments.“It really motivated us to work harder and improve in future occasions. I would like to thank all the participants as well as the entire team who put in great effort to make this experience successful and allowed us to play a vital role in collecting donations for the Education Above All organization,” he said.

Education Above All (EAA) is a foundation founded in 2012 by H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser. It aims to contribute to human, social and economic development through the provision of quality education. With a particular focus on those affected by poverty, conflict and disaster, it champions the needs of children, youth and women to empower them to become active members of their communities.

Among the participants in the event and also a student is Haseeb Tarig, who said he had a great experience with the tournaments.“They are doing a wonderful job at unifying the gaming community at QU under one club and giving chances to them to actively participate in gaming events,” he said.

The eSports Club aims to create and sustain an entertaining and competitive esports culture at QU, encourage students to realize their potential as athletes, and promote overall growth of the esports scene by building highly skilled and professional teams across gaming genres, while also allowing students to engage in teamwork-based activities.
