Self-employment information session held for women in Maan


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The Azm project recently organised an information session for women between the ages of 18 and 24 about self-employment opportunities and the services provided as part of the project in the Al Jafr area of the Maan Governorate.

The Azm project is managed by the Business Development Centre (BDC) and funded by UNICEF in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development, according to a BDC statement.

Through the provision of indirect financial grants through the procurement of equipment and tools, to training opportunities to build women's capacities on technical and financial project management as well as e-marketing, the project provides a comprehensive range of services.

It also provides follow-up support through linking the projects with local markets and providing project owners with technical expertise and counseling according to the nature of each project. To date, 100 young females with entrepreneurial ideas have applied to benefit from the Azm project, according to the statement.

Amjad Al Jazi, Director of the Social Development Directorate in the Maan Governorate, indicated that this session aims to alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment rates in the region, for women in particular.

Director of the Shabbat (female youth) Al Jafr Centre Maniyah Abu Tayyah expressed her appreciation for the BDC, UNICEF and the Ministry of Social Development for their efforts.
