DMT SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH TAHALUF FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF SMART CITIES


(MENAFN- Mid-East.Info) Abu Dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and Tahaluf Al Emarat Technical Solutions today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the GITEX Global Week 2021 conference activities aimed at exchanging experiences and developing joint efforts to innovate a secure smart city infrastructure and enhance the role of future technologies in Abu Dhabi.

This MoU is part of DMT’s ongoing projects to create cities of the future by partnering with the private and public sectors to build integrated and sustainable urban communities that will improve the quality of life in the emirate through joint cooperation, becoming a globall pioneer in the development of smart cities.

The agreement, signed His Excellency, Omar Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Institutional Affairs at DMT, and Yahia Al-Hami, CEO of Tahaluf, aims to lay the foundations for proactive collaboration between DMT and Tahaluf in the areas of smart cities, development of government service applications and the provision and development of municipal and transportation services.

The MoU covers ways to develop the infrastructure for Internet of Things (IOT) systems, to develop multimedia applications for DMT’s operations and to improve the use of artificial intelligence in the areas of inspection, health and environmental preservation. The project also includes a provision for support and advice to DMT by Tahaluf, one of the UAE’s fastest growing  and most dynamic technology companies

DMT and Tahaluf will jointly explore the possibilities of implementing an advanced technical system and providing specialised human resources and frameworks to work with specific data to set up an experimental environment for smart city projects, which will play a vital role in the implementation of Abu Dhabi’s smart city vision.

The Department's strategic priorities are to develop smart cities, based on data, knowledge and experience, to improve social, economic and urban development through a flexible and sustainable infrastructure. 

Speaking on the nnouncement, His Excellency, Omar Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Director-General of Institutional Affairs at DMT , said, “Cooperating with a company like Tahaluf is an essential step in realising our strategy for resilient and sustainable cities. A step that will help us achieve Abu Dhabi’s vision and thus the best for our people and future generations.  The MoU will allow us to strengthen DMT's relationship with its strategic partners across all sectors in the long term as well as enhance its ability to build smart infrastructure based on data and emerging technologies through cooperation with specialised companies with outstanding practical experience.”

Yahia Al-Hami, CEO of Tahaluf , said that the exchange of experiences for the latest technical practices and in the field is quite assintial to the progress of smart cities, he added that this MoU is an important step in providing the company’s expertise to serve the operations of DMT and ensure the sustainability of technical services for all the Department's and its affiliated entities, which will have significant positive repercussions. in many applications.
