(MENAFN) UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres gathered with President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ersin Tatar on the sidelines of the 76th session of UN General Assembly in New York.
A statement by the UN showed that the two exchanged views on the Cyprus issue.
Tatar is going to participate in a tripartite assembly and will gather with Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades at a luncheon to be hosted by the UN secretary general.
Cyprus was in a decades-long dispute amid Greek and Turkish Cypriots, in spite of a series of diplomatic efforts by the UN to attain a comprehensive settlement.
