Kuwait envoy: Amir's speech at UN highlighted key global challenges

Doha: Ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar, H E Hafiz Mohammed Al Ajmi, has praised the speech delivered by Amir H H sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday during the General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The speech highlighted a number of international issues, with the Amir also stressing the importance of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
“The speech by H H the Amir dealt with many important issues both internally and externally, as it addressed the policies of the State of Qatar and its position towards many vital issues in which Qatar plays a clear effort and a vital role that international society and the committees concerned with all United Nations organisations praise.”
He said Qatar has played a big role in the Afghan peace efforts. He said Qatar has spared no effort to evacuate thousands from Afghanistan.
Al Ajmi also said that the Amir's speech dealt with the issues of the Arab world, whether in Palestine, Syria or Yemen.“H H the Amir called on the international community, especially the Security Council to take its legal responsibility towards these issues.”
“Regarding COVID-19 pandemic, the Amir stressed in his speech the necessity of equitable distribution of coronavirus vaccines, ensuring their access to the countries of the South, as well as the need to coordinate efforts in combating false news, conspiracy theories and questioning the feasibility of vaccines.”
On this occasion, the Ambassador said:“I would like to emphasise that the Kuwaiti-Qatari relationship has been distinguished since ancient times, and is historically rooted through social and family ties between the peoples of the two countries, wishing continued stability and prosperity for the peoples of the two brotherly countries.”
