Uzbekistan, Afghanistan to ink preferential trade deal in 2021


(MENAFN) On Wednesday, May. 26 the Uzbek Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade stated that Uzbekistan and Afghanistan will ink a deal on preferential trade by the end of 2021 to raise trade turnover by 2.5 times in the imminent years.

The ministry noted that execution of this deal will help Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to raise trade turnover between both countries from the present USD800 million, a climb to 2 billion year-on-year.

This was declared in the discussions between Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Sardor Umurzakov and head of the Afghan Presidential Administration Mohammad Shakir Kargar in Termez city, administrative center of the Surkhandarya region.

The Uzbek side also welcomes Afghan entrepreneurs to pursue business in the free trade zone "Termez International Trade Center" based in the frontier with Afghanistan.
