Doha: Bringing much ease to traffic congestion in center of Doha, B-Ring Road Development Project is likely to be completed before the end of this year.
The project aims to develop the B-Ring Road and increase its capacity. The road is considered a vital road characterised by its heavy traffic movement as they connect traffic to and from vital areas such as Msheireb, Al Muntazah, Al Corniche, Al Sadd and Bin Mahmoud, the Public Works Authority said on its website.
According to the Authority, the project is expected to complete in the fourth quarter of 2021 while some phases of the project are likely to complete in the current quarter (Q2) of this year as per details shared in an infographic available on Ashghal’s website.
The B-Ring Road also connects many commercial and services facilities such as Rumailah Hospital, in addition to touristic destinations such as National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, Al Badaa Park and others.
The project includes enhancing the B-Road & Al Khaleej Street capacity by increasing the number of its lanes from 2 to 3 lanes in each direction as well as developing Onaiza Street.
Developing parts of the streets perpendicular to the B-Ring Road such as Al Matar, Wadi Mushireb, Rawdat Al Khail, and Al Rayyan streets and developing the entrance to Rumailah Hospital are also part of B Ring Road Development Project.
The project will enhance traffic safety by providing street lighting, pedestrian & cycle lanes & pedestrian crossings and it will also increase the number of parking bays.
Other parts of the project include landscaping and developing infrastructure services such as the storm-water drainage system, drainage network, developing the existing potable water, among others, according to information shared by Ashghal on its website.
In an earlier statement, Ashghal said that several Doha Metro stations are located within the project area, which increases the importance of this project as it will facilitate the transport between many vital destinations in the centre of Doha and the rest of the country.
In order to enhance the traffic flow in the area and facilitate movement between the A-Ring Road and the B-Ring Road, the project will upgrade six intersections including Fareej Abdul Aziz Intersection, Al Doha Al Jadeed Intersection, and the intersections known as Asiad Intersection, Wadi Rasheeda Intersection, Al Orouba Intersection, and Bin Dirham Intersection.
A new intersection will be developed at the intersection of Al Khaleej Street with Al Jazeera Street. Three roundabouts will be converted to signal-controlled intersections, which are Qasr Al Marmar, Al Mannai (Al Khaleej), and Wadi Msheireb (Al Jaidah Bridge) roundabouts.
