Iraq: IS blasts 2 oil wells, leave 2 security members dead


(MENAFN) An administration declaration and provincial security source stated that on Wednesday, May. 5 the rebels of the extremist Islamic State (IS) outfit assaulted an oil field in the Iraqi Kirkuk Province, leaving two security members dead and blasted two oil wells.

A report by the media office of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil stated IS rebels blasted two oil wells and set them on fire in Bai Hassan oil field in the al-Dibis locale northwest of the namesake provincial capital Kirkuk, around 250 km north of the capital Baghdad.

With no further details, the report said that the assault led to the death and injury of a number of security forces.

Teams and firefighting cars of Iraq’s North Oil Company were able to put out the fire in one well and are trying to extinguish the other.
