(MENAFN- NewsBytes) Conflicting reports are emerging ever since Kartik Aaryan was dropped off from Dostana 2 cast.
Some reports suggest that Akshay Kumar, Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan have been approached, while some say that the original Dostana stars- Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham- have been asked to join the cast.
But some other portals have rubbished this development and claimed these are untrue.

An exclusive HT City report said that Dharma Productions, Karan Johar's production house, has requested the Khiladi star to save them from this "tricky situation." "Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast," a source said.
News 2 There is no truth to that, says a Pinkvilla report
Meanwhile, a report by Pinkvilla rubbished this development. It also junked off the name of Varun Dhawan or even Bachchan and Abraham. Its source revealed, "Producer Karan (Johar) and director Collin (D'Cunha) haven't reached out to any actor as yet for Dostana 2. In fact, some are even saying that Varun Dhawan has been approached for the same, but there's no truth to that."

"They might reach out to these actors later but for now Collin is focusing on fine-tuning the script. They will look at casting in some time," adds the source. To recall, the brouhaha around Dostana 2 started when Dharma Productions decided last week to knock off Kartik from the cast.
Neither Kartik nor Karan made anything official, but Dharma wrote a tweet.

Dostana 2 would be a love triangle. It'd narrate the fallout after a man and his sister fall for the same guy. The brother's role will be played by newcomer Lakshya, while Janhvi Kapoor will be the sister. Kartik would have been the common love interest.
Apparently, the whole situation would cost Dharma some Rs. 20 crore, but they are willing to do that.
