(MENAFN) Official IRNA news agency reported that on Tuesday, Apr. 13 visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that all the U.S. sanctions against Iran should be abolished unconditionally.

Lavrov noted: "our position is clear, and all sanctions against Iran should be lifted unconditionally. And I hope that by lifting sanctions on Iran, more cooperation climate will be created," giving details on Russia's position as a member of the 2015 nuke agreement, also acknowledged as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on the return of the United States to the agreement.

He stated that the only way to resume the JCPOA is Washington's complete fulfillment of its commitments and obeying the UN Security Council and UN decisions, emphasizing that if Washington fails to do so, it might be a risky act that could have terrible outcome.

Lavrov noted at a joint press meeting with Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif: "we are trying to help the Americans and the Iranians return to their commitments."
