Brunei founds 5G pilot scheme to improve digital economy


(MENAFN)The Bruneian government has established the 5G Pilot scheme in the capital to sustain planned purposes and priorities under the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025.

The 5G pilot scheme is charged by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and spearheaded by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) with participation from telecommunications infrastructure and service suppliers in addition to industry stakeholders and players, counting Huawei Brunei, according to the local Borneo Bulletin daily on Sunday, April 4.

Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Abdul Mutalib established the 5G Pilot scheme at a local shopping mall on Saturday, April 3. The pilot scheme also plans to show 5G Proof-of-Concept network environments, encourage the value of high-speed 5G mobile communications and generate knowledge in fastening 5G implementation.
