Switzerland prompts mass testing for coronavirus

(MENAFN)On Wednesday, the Swiss Federal Council announced further steps to keep abreast of the spreading of COVID-19, promoting mass testing in the region.

As of Feb. 1, monitoring of asymptomatic individuals will be approved and the expense will be paid by the federal government, the Council said at a press conference sharing the expectation that the agencies will monitor on a mass scale such that "local outbreaks of infection can be contained early on."

"It is believed that more than half of COVID-19 infections are transmitted by people who do not display symptoms," noted the Council statement.

"By extending the testing strategy, the government hopes that local outbreaks of the virus, for example in schools, can be identified and contained at an early stage," he said.
