Iran, Turkey railway to ship 1M tons of commodities


(MENAFN)According to Turkish authorities, about 1 million tons of commodities are to be shipped through rail amid Turkey and Iran the current year.

A recent memorandum of understanding signed in a meeting of railway representatives in Turkey's capital Ankara on Jan. 12-13 would inaugurate a new era for the transit railway, stated Transport and Infrastructure Ministry.

It further stated that in spite of the novel Coronavirus pandemic, three train services were run daily amid Turkey and Iran in previous year, transporting 564,000 tons of cargo.

Cargo trains would also run amid Turkey and Pakistan via Iran on a common tariff amid the three countries.
