China: Tibet witnesses rise in road mileage, connectivity

(MENAFN) While southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region carries on witnessing developing connectivity, the road network in the region now extends over 117,000 km, a rise by 50 percent compared to the end of 2015.

According to figures issued at the current fourth session of the 11th People's congress of the region, the mileage of the rail network in Tibet has stood at 954 km.

Since the region is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with difficult geographical circumstances for road construction and restricted technology and funds, transport has long been a block slowing down Tibet's improvement.
