Palestinian gov't approves Kuwaiti grant for projects in Gaza


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian government announced Wednesday that it has approved new payments for spending within the Kuwaiti grant provided for the reconstruction of Gaza.
New disbursement payments have been approved within the Kuwaiti grant worth USD 800,000, distributed to the water, education and health sectors in the Gaza Strip, Minister of Public Works and housing Mohammad Ziara said in a press release, carried by Palestinian WAFA news agency.
Payments of USD 663,000 have been approved for the second phase of the Southern Conveyor Project and the development of networks that will receive additional water from outside the Gaza Strip, he added.
The ministry approved payments of USD 140,000 for the project of re-establishing and finishing the maternity hospital in Al-Shifa Hospital, indicating that work is underway to follow up and complete the disbursement of all payments due for contractors, he explained.
The value of the Kuwaiti grant amounts to USD 200 million allocated for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after the 2014 Gaza war in the summer, which will be used in a number of projects. (end)
