Ukraine envoy hails Qatar decision to hold Shura Council elections

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Ambassador of Ukraine to the State of Qatar, H E Andrii Kuzmenko (pictured),has appreciated Qatar for rapid development of parliamentarism and lauded the decision to hold Shura Council elections in October, which was announced by the Amir H H sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani during the opening of 49th ordinary session of the Shura Council on Tuesday. 'First of all, I would like to congratulate Shura Council with the inauguration of its 49th ordinary session, said Kuzmenko in a statement to The Peninsula.
In the statement, Kuzmenko continued, 'Over the recent years all of us have been witnessing the rapid development of the parliamentarism in the State of Qatar. 'First ever appointment of women as members of the Shura Council of Qatar, that took place in 2017, intensification of engagement between the Shura Council and international partners, a proactive stance that Qatari Shura Council and its members are taking within different global platforms and mechanisms of interparliamentary cooperation all of this reflects tangible progress that Qatar achieved in the modernisation of its inclusive parliamentary system and evolution of the whole transparent State Governance.
'It was of great importance that Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani while delivering his annual speech during the opening ceremony, underlined that elections to the Advisory Council will be held in October 2021 as it is stipulated by the Constitution of the State of Qatar promulgated in 2004. 'It is a strong message to Qatari society and to the international community, which proves the commitment and readiness of the leadership of the State of Qatar to put into practice previous pledges, as well as willingness to further develop the legislative process in the country based on a wider participation of its citizens, said Kuzmenko.
