Iraqi Kurds worried about attacks on diplomatic missions - Pres.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) IRBIL, Sept 29 (KUNA) -- President of Iraq's Kurdistan region Nechirvan Barzani expressed concern Tuesday over the security developments in Iraq and armed attacks on diplomatic missions.
Barzani, during a meeting with Italian Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini, who arrived in the region from Baghdad last night, said the diplomatic missions and the international coalition in Iraq play an important role in supporting the country, a statement by the region's presidency said.
Therefore, he added, protecting the diplomatic missions was important.
Iraq's Kurdistan region, said Barzani, fully supported Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhemi's measures to counter these threats.
There have been a rising number in attacks against US forces and interests of coalition countries. (end)
