Saudi Arabia Hosts 8th Meeting of Friends of Sudan as Chair of Friends of Sudan Group


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh, August 12, 2020, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the 8th Meeting of the Friends of Sudan, as the Chair of the Friends of Sudan Group.
The virtual meeting will be chaired by Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Participants include the Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan, Abdalla Hamdok, the Republic of South Sudan, the guest of honor of the meeting represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Beatrice Khamisa Wani, Adviser to the President of the Republic of South Sudan for Security Affairs, Chairman of the Mediation Team, Tut Qalwak, as the Republic of South Sudan is the sponsor of the Juba peace talks, in addition to the peace partners who are parties to the negotiations in the Juba peace talks, the Head of Sudan Revolutionary Front Dr. Al-Hadi Idris, the Leader of the Sudan Liberation Army Minni Minnawi, and 25 organizing countries.
The meeting aims to support the negotiation process and invite all conflict parties to negotiate in order to reach a comprehensive agreement and achieve sustainable peace.
The meeting will also discuss in a special session the steps required of financial institutions to start the process of writing off Sudan's debts.
