Pakistan- Relatives in a soup after woman tests COVID-19 positive after death


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) NOWSHERA: The coronavirus test of a woman in Nowshera has come back as positive after her death which has put the district administration and relatives of the deceased woman in a difficult situation.

Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan said two more deaths from coronavirus have been reported in the district. He said one positive test is that of 62-year-old Rabia Bilqees, a retired schoolteacher, who died few days ago and her samples were taken after death.

The standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the provincial government for burial were not followed during the burial of the woman. The deputy commissioner said those who took part in giving Ghusal and burial of the deceased woman will also be tested now.

The second person in Nowshera to die from coronavirus on Wednesday was Haroonur Rashid, a resident of Shedo area. He was 45 years old.

Nowshera has so far reported 13 deaths from coronavirus and 122 infections. The deputy commissioner said about 15 to 20 tests are conducted in Nowshera on daily basis.

KP death toll mounts to 275

The death toll from novel coronavirus in KP has mounted to 275 after eight more deaths were reported on Wednesday.

As many as 231 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed Wednesday taking the total confirmed cases to 5,252 in KP. Out of eight new deaths four were reported in Peshawar, two in Nowshera, and one each in Khyber tribal district and Lower Dir.

As many as 87 new patients have recovered from coronavirus in KP, taking the tally to 1,392. Active cases at 3,585.

With 2,087 infections, including 112 during the last 24 hours, and 164 deaths, Peshawar remains the most hit city in KP. 130 people have recovered from the disease in the metropolis so far. Swat has reported 22 deaths and 386 infections, Mardan has reported 19 deaths and 280 connections, Charsadda nine deaths and 91 infections, Chitral and Malakand seven deaths each and Lower Dir and Abbottabad have reported six deaths each.

Khyber district has reported two deaths, Mohmand one and Bajaur and Kurram have reported three deaths each.
