(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) NOWSHERA: The Afghan refugees camp in Nowshera has been sealed completely due to the threat of spread of coronavirus.
The district administration and personnel of the Pakistan Army have also closed the bazaar, medical stores and shops of food items in the refugees' camp. The military personnel have been deployed on entry and exit routes of the camp.
Meanwhile, the Afghan refugees living in Timergara camp in Lower Dir have voluntarily locked down themselves as part of precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the virus. The local residents have put barriers on the entry points of the camp to avoid the entry of people from outside.
The volunteers in the camp said lockdown is the most effective way to prevent the spread of the virus. They said people must not come out of their houses without any need. They said the disease can be avoided by social distancing. The disease has spread in many areas due to lack of care by people in social interactions. The areas which have observed social distancing are less likely to be exposed to the virus threat.
The volunteers outside the Lower Dir camp are also providing sanitizers to people going outside the camp for important tasks. People are advised not to roam around unnecessarily.
Social distancing at Ehsaas distribution points
The disbursement of cash assistance to the deserving families under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program has started from today (Thursday) and authorities are making sure that social distancing is observing at the distribution points.
Under the program, Rs12,000 each will be distributed among 12 million deserving families affected by the ongoing lockdown in the wake of coronavirus pandemic across the country during the next two and half weeks after biometric verification.
The government has allocated Rs144 billion for Ehsaas Program, which is a countrywide umbrella, and all provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are part of this platform.
Adviser to PM on Social Welfare Sania Nishtar on Thursday shared that social distancing is being observed at the distribution points to make sure that the spread of the virus through personal contact is prevented.
