Active drilling rigs in U.S. declines strongly this week

Weekly data published by Baker Hughes, Houston-based oilfield services company in the United States, showed that the number of active drilling rigs operating in the United States saw a strong decline of 64 to reach only 664 for the current week, representing a yearly decline of 361 rigs.

The active drilling rigs are made up of 562 oil drilling rigs working in the oil fields of the country, which decreased 62 since a week earlier, 100 are gas drilling rigs which dropped two and and two miscellaneous rigs which remained the same.

The total 664 rigs consist of 646 land drilling rigs, losing 64 compared to a week earlier, the offshore drilling rigs stood at 18 and there were zero inland waters drilling rig this week.

41 of them are directional drilling rigs while 593 are horizontal drilling rigs and the remaining 30 are vertical drilling rigs.
