Tragic bus crash in Pakistan


(MENAFN) A local police officer said that, a passenger bus collided into a hill in northern Pakistan on Sunday causing the death of at least 26 people and the injury of 19 others.


Muhammad Irfan Khokhar said that, Brakes of the bus carrying 45 passengers failed while negotiating a turn at a mountain pass, he added that some people were heading to their work places in east Punjab region.


Khokhar said that, "The accident was so serious that 22 people died right at the spot while four others succumbed to injuries later at hospital, and most of the injured are also in critical condition," and Sources said that the bus was already beyond the safety speed limits, and the failure of brakes made the condition even worse.


The sources said that, the bus left Skardu in the wee hours of Sunday morning for Punjab's Rawalpindi and the accident occurred at 9:30 a.m. local time, he also said that most of the wounded belonged to Skardu.
