KALAYA: The Orakzai Rights Movement, a society working for the rights of people of Orakzai tribal district, has demanded removal of non-local persons appointed on jobs in Orakzai and appointment of local persons on these posts.

Orakzai Rights Movement Chairman Abid Naeem, Malik Misal Khan, Mushtaq Hussain and others said while addressing a press conference in Orakzai on Friday that several persons have been appointed in Health Department of Orakzai even without publication of an advertisement. They demanded that these persons must be removed from the posts and local persons must be appointed in their place.

The Rights Movement representatives said the provincial government has ordered transfers in Health Department of Orakzai, but still some officers are sitting in their old places. They alleged that a non-governmental organisation (NGO), which is supposed to provide healthcare facilities to the local people, is instead doing experiments on people. They said the poor people have nowhere to go as they don't get facilities.

The Movement representatives said the offices of NGOs working on healthcare in Orakzai must be shifted to Ghiljo from Kohat and Hangu. They alleged that these NGOs consume so much time to travelling, and give very little time to work. They said only those people who live near the roads get health facilities, while the people of areas who live far from roads remain deprived.

The Orakzai Rights Movement said the people of the area will stage protests if any NGO working in the area appointed non-local persons in future. They said they will never allow such NGOs to function in their area.

The activists also complained that despite clear orders from Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Mehmood Khan, Orakzai tribal district is still deprived of mobile phone and internet service. They said the local people, particularly the students, face a lot of difficulties due to non-availability of cell phone and internet facility in the area. Thy said these facilities must be provided to the area without further delay to end the difficulties of people.

They also demanded that the trade routes of Orakzai must be opened for traders and tourists.
