The Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MHC) is calling on the public to visit 'Nafais Manuscripts Exhibition' at Nizwa Cultural Centre and learn about the oldest Omani manuscripts.

Open from 9am to 1.30pm, the exhibition will run until October 16.

Original manuscripts dating back 900 years are among some of the rare documents on display at the exhibition. In this connection, workshops will be held in three wilayats.

Organised by MHC and supported by Occidental of Oman, the year-long exhibition in different parts of the country is featuring ancient manuscripts and documents. The ministry stated that the objective of the exhibition is to make people aware of how the earlier generations in Oman prepared manuscripts, documents and books on different subjects.

'The exhibition will feature manuscript dating back to 531H, which is around 900 years ago,' the ministry stated.

'The first exhibition was opened at Sayyid Faisal Museum in Muscat on March 18 followed by events in Dhofar and then in Nizwa. The exhibition will finally return to Sayyid Faisal Museum in Muscat with the concluding ceremony on March 18, 2020.'
