Air New Zealand angered Maori community

(MENAFN) "Kia Ora", the title of Air New Zeeland's inflight magazine, has drawn warning of a boycott, as they bid to trademark the image of the two words.

The trademark "Kia Ora" is a greeting of Maori, and its bids has started anger from the indigenous community. The airline replied saying that their intention is to trademark the magazine logo not the "Kia Ora" phrase.

The bid was described as "cultural misappropriation" and "frankly despicable" by the New Zealand Maori, where the council is a legal body set up in order to represent the Maori community.
