Iraqi forces kill Daesh leader in Diyala


(MENAFN) On Friday, a local leader Of Daesh terror organization and his aide were murdered as a result of an operation in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, while the forces also managed to arrest four extremist militants in the province, a security official affirmed.

Acting on intelligence reports, the Iraqi army hit an IS hideout with mortar rounds in hills area at the edge of Himreen mountain range in the northern part of Diyala province, murder an IS leader and one of his aides, Sadiq al-Husseini, head of the security committee in Diyala's provincial council, informed Xinhua.

Al-Husseini stated that the Daesh leader, nicknamed Abu-Qatada, is responsible for logistic efforts of the radical group.

An Iraqi security force was sent to cordon off the area to retrieve the bodies of the murdered IS militants, al-Husseini added.
