(MENAFN - The Peninsula) QNADoha: The Ministry of Municipality and Environment said yesterday that a total of approximately 770 tonnes of local agricultural products sold in June.
The selling was done through two main programmes, 'Outstanding Product and 'Qatar Farms. The former programme sold 199 tonnes, while the latter sold 570.5 tonnes. The Ministry said the two programmes focused on improving the marketing of local produce by driving up demand and improving the income generated by the Qatari farmer.
The Ministry also said that the programmes helped boost investment in the agricultural sector by providing a variety of produce in hypermarkets throughout the year.
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment along with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry oversees programmes to market local produce.
