Police seizes cannabis in Morocco


(MENAFN) The Moroccan official radio said on Wednesday that The Moroccan police have seized 5.54 tons of cannabis in a truck in the northern port of Tanger-Med.


The transport truck of goods was heading to a European port and the drug was in it, as said by the report quoting a police statement.

The truck driver is a 30 year old Moroccan national and he was arrested and handed to Tangier judiciary police to complete the investigation before being brought to justice.


According to a 2016 report by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and regardless of efforts to stop the cannabis farming in the last decade, Morocco remains one of the world's biggest cannabis resin harvester.
