Drug smuggler apprehended by Italian police

(MENAFN) A man has been imprisoned as well as ordered to pay USD 239 fine after he was convicted in attempting to sell cannabis in Paceville.

Ahmed Al Allagi, aged 27, who is originally from Libya but lives in Msida, has been detained after he was spotted by the police while giving an Italian tourist a pack of cannabis he was hiding in his shoe.

He was charged with smuggling drugs in a place regularly visited by youths and relapsing after the tourist known him as the person who had given her the drugs.

Both the woman and the defendant declared that money had not changed hands at that point.
