Ethiopia provides medical care for 174 AWD patients

(MENAFN) An Ethiopian official declared that medical personnel in Ethiopia's Amhara regional state, located in the northern area of the country are providing medical care for 174 people for suspected Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) epidemic.

Beyene Moges, Deputy Director General of the Ethiopia Public health Institute (PHI), confirmed that the suspected epidemic of AWD has so far infected 174 people, with medical professionals currently providing medical care to the patients.

Moges added that a crew including federal, regional and zonal officials has been dispatched to the areas in Amhara regional state hit by suspected cases of AWD, with an operation to limit further outbreaks.

However the remoteness of the areas as well as poor telecommunication and road networks are halting operation to effectively handle the suspected cases of AWD.
