Jordan- Net profits of companies increased by 23%, says ASE

Amman, May 7 (Petra) -- The net profits of 184 companies listed in the first and the second markets at the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) picked up by 23.1 percent, according to their 2019 financial statements.

The companies' net profit shot up by JD48.2 million, reaching JD257.3 million in the first quarter of this year, compared to the JD209 million in 2018.

Cash dividends for companies listed at the ASE amounted to JD802.5 million in 2018, representing a 4.3 percent increase compared to 2017.

As a result, the share prices of companies' that distributed cash profits tumbled, thereby affecting the ASE's general price index.
