UAE renovates school in Yemen's Red Sea Coast

MOCHA, 22nd April, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE has re-opened a school in Yakhtul, Mocha District, in Yemen's Red Sea Coast, as part of its continued efforts to support the local education sector.

Mohammed Al Junaibi, Director of Humanitarian Affairs at the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, in Yemen, said that the "Martyr Mohamed Ali School" was refurbished and equipped with essential supplies, and includes an integrated solar power system.

Qasim Al Shadhili, Director-General of the Education Office of Mocha District, said that the renovation of the school will create a suitable academic environment for the 1,500 students from ten villages who will study there.

He noted that the UAE has rebuilt and furnished seven schools in Mocha District, which were destroyed or damaged by the Houthi militias.

Ali Faqeer Ahmed, Director of the School, and the school's academic staff, thanked the UAE and its humanitarian arm, the ERC, for supporting Yemen's education sector, as well as its humanitarian and service sectors.
