Tensions continue to mount between Palestinian prisoners, Israeli guards in Negev jail

(MENAFN) Tensions continue to increase at the Israeli Negev jail, in southern Israel, following "continuous provocations" by the Israeli Prison Services (IPS) against Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian Prisoners and Former Prisoners' Affairs reported on Wednesday.

The committee stated that Israeli suppression forces attacked a Palestinian inmate at section 1 of the jail and transferred him to a unknown place, claiming that he threw hot water at an Israeli guard.

The IPS had seized all electronic devices from inside section 1 as tensions augmented at the jail since February 19th, after inmates demonstrated against the IPS installing jamming devices around sections of the jail.

Hundreds of Palestinian inmates were attacked and wounded by Israeli prison guards in the Negev jail after Hamas-affiliated prisoners stabbed two Israeli prison guards in March.
