(MENAFN) Chicago police declared that U.S actor Jussie Smollett has been charged with faking a police report.
The Empire star had claimed he was attacked by a homophobic and racist two men in January.
Uncertainty overwhelmed his account after US media revealed that police suspected he had possibly paid two Nigerian brothers to fake the attack.
Mr Smollett's lawyers confirmed they would "conduct a thorough investigation and mount an aggressive defence".
