Two Indonesian women pleaded guilty and were sentenced to three months in jail on prostitution charges in Malaysia on January 30. The two, only known by their first names Renny, 25, and Hardiyanti, 33, were individually charged and tried at the court in Ayer Keroh, Malacca, the New Straits Times reported.
At about 2:30 pm on January 14, the two women were found soliciting for prostitution in different rooms at a hotel in Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Malacca.

While the public prosecutor urged the judge to impose a sentence that would serve as a deterrent, the two defendants asked for leniency, saying they had families to care for at home.
The prosecutor, N Sivashangari, also asked the judge to have the two defendants handed over to the Immigration Department upon completion of their sentence.
Judge Mohammad Firdaus sentenced both women to three months of imprisonment on January 30. The maximum penalty for prostitution in Malaysia is one year in prison or a fine, or a combination of both.
