Sumar border market in Iran's Kermanshah province is currently open and has not stopped export operations, Director General of Kermanshah Customs Administration Khalil Heidari said commenting on the news that "exports have been suspended at Sumar", Trend reports via ISNA.

He noted that internal problems of Iraqi customs caused strain to export operations on Jan. 20, but the issue has been dealt with and export operations are being carried out via the customs point.

Daily 150-200 vehicles cross the border point, Heidari said.

In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), so far, goods worth over $800 million have been exported via Sumar, he added.

In general, there are certain problems with exports to Iraq's territories populated mainly by Arabs, he said.

There are two other factors, he added, the first is that Iraq has imposed restrictions on imports of some goods and the second is that imported goods must have an international certificate.

Earlier certification was done by international companies operating in Iran, but presently, they have left Iran and it causes Iran certain problems in exports, Heidari said.

He noted that the current problems are temporary and soon obstacles will be eliminated and export operations will continue full speed.

The statement on the halt of export operation through Sumar border market was made by the governor of Kermanshah's Gilan-e Gharb county Kurush Mahmodian.
