Qatar to earmark USD 20 mln to help African refugees in Libya return


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani has ordered formation of a USD 20 million fund, sponsored by the African Union, to organize return of illegal African refugees in Libya to return to their countries.

The official Qatari News Agency said on Sunday the Amir's initiative came in line with his "vision for supporting humanitarian and development action in the African Union countries and for easing off the living hardships suffered by these refugees." It quoted Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat as praising, during a meeting today with the Amir, the latter's initiative. (end) nnd.rk
