Saudi- Minister of Media: We have an ambitious digital transition leap that leads us to a new media age with support of the wise leadership

Riyadh, December 17, 2018, SPA -- Minister of Media and the Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad attended this evening the Ministry of Media's ceremony on the occasion of choosing Riyadh as Capital of Arab Media 2018/2019, in the presence of Arab Ministers of Information, Arab League officials, journalists and writers from different Arab countries.
The Minister received the guests of the ceremony and accompanied them on a tour of the accompanying exhibition, which contained historical photographs, press tools and documents on the origin and development of the Saudi media.
At the outset of the ceremony, the royal anthem was played and verses of the holy Quran were recited.
Then, visual presentations on the identity of Riyadh, the Capital of Arab Media, and previous capitals of Arab Media were presented.
Dr. Al-Awwad delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Kingdom's guests.
He said that Riyadh and the rest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's regions are witnessing ambitious technical and digital projects with the support, care and follow-up of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense, assuring that these digital projects will be the gateway to a new media age.
Assistant Secretary General, the head of Media and Communication Sector, Dr. Badr Al-Din Alali, delivered a speech on behalf of the Secretary General of the Arab League.
Dr. Ali Nasser Al- Khwaildi, President of the Communications and Media Commission of the Republic of Iraq, delivered the speech of the previous Capital of Arab Media Baghdad.
Then, the shield of the Capital of Arab Media was handed over by the previous capital Baghdad to the current capital Riyadh, where Dr. Ali Nasser Al- Khwaildi, President of the Communications and Media Commission in the Republic of Iraq presented the shield to the Minister of Media and the Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad.
Then, a number of activities took place. They included among other events a song by a number of children and visual presentations on Saudi media.
A meeting with the President of the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Abdullah Al Hussein followed. During the meeting, he reviewed the history and development of the agency.
