Upholding agreement only way to end Palestinian divide, says Fatah

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Palestinian political movement Fatah has underlined that acting upon the previously signed reconciliation agreement was the only way to end the state of division and achieve national unity between Palestinian factions.
In response to a call by rival faction Hamas for talks on holding renewed elections within three months, a Fatah official said that overstepping this, particularly the 2017 agreement, was "utterly rejected." Any meeting between Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh and Palestinian Preswident Mahmoud Abbas should compliment these agreements, said a Fatah spokesman.
The spokesman accused Hamas of reneging on the deal and not carrying out what it had vowed to do by not allowing a coalition government to operate in Gaza. (end) wab.sd
