Russian authorities arrest 7 over financially support 2 radical groups in ME


(MENAFN) Russian authorities announce that they have arrested seven people suspected of economically supporting two radical organizations in the Middle East.

On Thursday, Russia's Investigative Committee emphasized that the suspects had been arrested in and around the Moscow region and the three North Caucasus regions of Chechnya, Daghestan, and Ingushetia.

They were suspected of sending not less than USD570,000 to activists of the Islamic State (IS) group and the Al-Nusra Front - Al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate until 2016 - since 2010.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) emphasizd the seven suspects were arrested following a joint operation by the FSB, the Investigative Committee, and the National Guard.
