Mexico's new gov't urged to reconsider public projects


(MENAFN) The new Mexican government was urged to mull over previously presented public works initiatives in order to steer clear of accumulating debt.

The call was made by Private Sector Center for Economic Studies think tank, of which the Business Coordinating Council owns.

Newly elected President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador also received an appeal to review his decision to construct infrastructure in order to create job opportunitie.

The private-sector center explained that the priority is preventing a "negative impact on the health of public finances, which is fundamental to maintaining macroeconomic stability."

It added: "the country's needs should now center on implementing policies that promote an atmosphere of certainty that will stimulate the permanence and arrival of productive investment."
