India: bus crash kills 3, injures 50 more

(MENAFN) Police declared that over three people have died as at least 50 more were wounded after a private bus drifted off a mountain road and flipped over in northern India.

A police official confirmed: "The bus overturned after it skidded off the road Wednesday night. While three people died on the spot, all the injured have been hospitalised. Seven of the injured are said to be in serious condition."

Eye-witnesses informed officers that the crash took place after the driver failed to control the speeding bus on a sharp bend.

"However, several lives were saved due to a crash barrier at the site which prevented the bus from plunging into a gorge," according to local police chief Monika Bhutungru.
