Imports from Iran only through the Farah border had been banned, the head of the Afghanistan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce was quoted as saying.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Mozaffar Alikhani explained the import restrictions were aimed to prevent violation of Custom rules.

On September 15, a section of the media reported Afghanistan had curbed imports of oil products, cement, iron, ceramics and tiles from Iran.

The copy of a letter to the effect, signed by the director of Farah Customs Department, was released.

Alikhani explained imports from Iran continued through Afghan Dogharun and Nimruz borders.
