IPL 2018: Kolkata Knight Riders fighting multiple battles
17 Mar 2018

After a string of injuries, more trouble continues to pile on Kolkata Knight Riders.

Bad luck is haunting the 2-time IPL champion, which already have the smallest squad in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Now, they might be without the services of 3 premier players, two of which the franchise had chosen to retain.

Sunil Narine pulled up for illegal bowling action
Faces ban

KKR, which decided to retain West Indian off-spinner Sunil Narine, have been dealt with a huge blow after the 29-year-old was reported for his bowling action.

Narine is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League for the Lahore Qalandars.

He was reported for his action being illegal during the match against Quetta Gladiators in the UAE.

Narine might not be able to bowl for KKR
Handicapped

If Sunil Narine's bowling action is reported once more, he would be banned from bowling in the IPL.

This means KKR would lose their primary bowler.

However, the West Indian can be used as a power hitter, an ability which he showcased in the last edition of the IPL.

Andre Russell's injury is another concern
Star player gone

While Sunil Narine might not be able to bowl, his fellow countryman all-rounder Andre Russell's participation is in doubt due to a hamstring injury.

He was also retained by the franchise.

Russell's injury leaves KKR short of options in the bowling department.

To add to their woes, they cannot strengthen their squad as they have already spent the allocated Rs. 80 cr.

Rs. 9.6 crore man Lynn yet to recover from injury
Dislocated shoulder

KKR's troubles do not end there.

The franchise, which forked out a massive Rs. 9.6 crore for the services of big hitting Australian Chris Lynn, will be cursing their luck as the 27-year-old might also be out of action for a while.

Lynn is suffering from a dislocated shoulder, an injury he picked up during the T20 tri-series against England and New Zealand.
