Qatar Charity sponsors 110,000 orphans worldwide

Qatar Charity has successfully managed to sponsor as many as 110,000 orphan children around the globe while it has set a target of 150,000 sponsorships for the orphans by the end of next year (2018), through Rofaqaa, a Qatar Charity project that promotes orphans advocacy and sponsorship.

In connection with Qatar National Day celebrations, Qatar Charity arranged several receptions and ceremonies inside the country and abroad throughout its bureaus across the world, said a press release issued here yesterday. The National Day receptions were attended by numbers of heads and representatives of diplomatic Qatari missions abroad as well as officials from host countries.

Thousands of Qatar Charity's sponsored orphan children in the states of Palestine, Sudan, Kenya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Niger were happy to show their love in celebrating Qatar National Day. Sharing the joy, the orphan children participated in different cultural, musical, and sport contests organised by Qatar Charity bureaus in various countries.

In collaboration with Subul Sport Center, Qatar Charity bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted an open sport day for 300 sponsored orphans. The orphan kids participated in the contest with zeal and showed their love for the State of Qatar.

In Indonesia, Qatar Charity's ceremony was attended by 200 orphans along with more than 100 other attendees including the mothers of the orphan children and figures from the Indonesian civil society.

Speaking on the occasion, Ahmed Bin Jassem Al Homor - Qatar's Ambassador to Indonesia said lauded the people of Qatar for their generous support for the orphans. He said: 'Thank you our Qatari people for drawing a smile on the faces of Indonesian orphans emphasizing on the fact that the state of Qatar has and will always invest and promote charitable work in Indonesia.

The ceremony was attended by 1,000 orphans and their mothers and led by Sudan's Social care and Social development Minister Amal Al Bili and the general consul of Qatar in Sudan Ahmed Al Abdali along with representative from local and international charities in Sudan.

Along with the National Day celebrations and its annual activity plans, Qatar Charity hosted a ceremony to honour excellent orphan students in the region of Karisia in Kenya. Bashar Abbas, head of local parliament in the region of Karisia, pointed out to the crucial role that Qatari benefactors play in terms of promoting sustainable development across Kenya, especially in the fields of social care and orphans' sponsorship.

More than 400 orphans took part in the celebration of Qatar National Day in Kosovo. On behalf of the sponsored orphans, Luna Adami (a sponsored young orphan girl) gave a moving speech to thank the sponsors and their efforts in helping orphans in Kosovo.

In Gaza, more than 400 orphans attended the ceremony held by Qatar Charity's Bureau in Palestine. The ceremony in Niger was attended by more than 500 orphans and led by the Nigerien deputy minister of youth and sports who praised Qatar's efforts in regards to supporting sustainable development in Niger.
